Dr. Ibrahim Elaraoud is an Ophthalmologist who specializes in surgical retina, complex cataract surgery, and ocular trauma. Dr. Elaraoud completed his training in the UK and completed the European, British and Canadian boards.

Academically, he has numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations in national and international conferences. He is an associate professor with Memorial Medical School, where he assists with medical students’ training and mentoring. He joined a group of PEI Ophthalmologists in 2018 and has since expanded the scope of practice to include surgical retina. 

Dr. Abdelghaffar is a globally recognized surgical retina specialist with over 20 years of experience, serving patients in the Greater Toronto Area and internationally. With over 30,000 anterior segment surgeries and more than 5,000 vitreoretinal procedures, he is a trusted leader in the management of complex retinal and cataract conditions.

Dr. Abdelghaffar’s extensive international training—from prestigious institutions in Egypt, Spain, Germany, and the UK—gives him a unique global perspective and the ability to address diverse and challenging ophthalmic cases. His clinical excellence has earned him accolades such as the Star Research Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Trainer of the Year Awards for his exceptional mentorship of ophthalmology residents and fellows.

An esteemed academic, Dr. Abdelghaffar has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and supervised numerous MSc and PhD theses. He is frequently invited to lecture at leading international conferences, where he shares his expertise on advanced surgical techniques and innovations in ophthalmology.
